" We first met Kurt Kowaltschny and Vivid Built back in early 2019 after we purchased our property and decided on pretty much a full knock-down rebuild. We had met with a number of builders but when we met Kurt we instantly knew he was the builder for us.
Both my husband and I had a strong vision for what we wanted from our new home and to achieve this we had to push the boundaries of design code and council allowances to maximize space, sunlight and privacy. As a novice but enthusiastic interior designer I was looking for a builder that could share and get excited by our vision for the house and someone who would let me remain involved in the selection of fixtures and fittings. Kurt promised to be supportive and we could tell he was as excited by the potential of our project.
Kicking off our project just as the pandemic hit was tough, but Kurt remained calm, and despite trades being difficult to lock in and materials in short supply he continually pushed our project forward past numerous challenges with difficult neighbors, a demanding local council and a construction site next door.
Not to mention the terrible weather conditions we experienced over the past few years. What I always valued in Kurt was his responsiveness. Kurt would never ignore a call, always took the time to explain updates to the timelines and budget and was patient with me as I created designs for cabinetry and selected fixtures and fittings, providing guidance on the order of things and my deadlines for procurement.
I’d say the other stand out trait with regards to Kurt is the pride he takes in his work. He has a great attention to detail and won’t settle for anything but perfection. And as a fellow perfectionist I valued this enormously.
Kurt’s tradies were all very respectful and hard working. Kurt made sure they all regularly cleaned up after themselves and ran a tight ship when it came to their behavior within our home. We have two small children so this was much appreciated, especially because we liked to drop in on the site on a regular basis to show the kids the progress on the house.
I’m very impressed with where Kurt has taken his business. He was the youngest of all the builders we interviewed when deciding who to progress with, but his age hasn’t impacted the quality of his work. I am greatly appreciative of the beautiful, quality home he has built for our family. It wasn’t an easy build (to say the least) but we got there in the end and the results (in my opinion) are stunning. I have referred him to numerous friends and will continue to for many years, until he tells me he’s got too much work to handle!"
